Lisa’s Critique Service
I am the author of Through the Veil, an essay collection to be published by Canon Press in summer of 2010. My essays have been published in a number of national literary journals, and I’ve been the Creative Nonfiction Editor of Relief Journal since 2007. In my critiques I will look for strength and potential in your work. I’ll tell you where your writing is most effective and how this can be enhanced. My critique will include editorial corrections in grammar, punctuation, and usage, as well as craft-oriented guidance that will provide you with skills to shape and polish a particular essay and tools for use in your future writing projects.
I have worked with writers on the following types of projects:
• individual literary essays • essay collections • college application essays • book-length manuscripts.

Client testimonial:
Your package of editing critiques, comments, suggestions, ideas, instruction, and book/journal lists has a much higher value than the cost. Thanks to working with and learning from you, my essay is vastly improved. More importantly, however, my concept of creative nonfiction has experienced a sea change.
Your editor's voice is in my head permanently now, and that is a very good thing! You helped me think through why I want to write, where I want to go with it, and how to get there.
